GEDAC & POWERCON cooperation on Generator rated Metalclad Switchgear

Generator circuits have unique characteristics that require specially designed and tested circuit breakers. The IEEE_ developed the special industry standard C37.013 and amendment C37.013a-2007, to address these characteristics.

Powercon has taken the VCP-WG breaker and designed a metal-clad switchgear panel to accommodate the breaker and enhanced the breakers capacity by adding a fan for forced air cooling thereby increasing the rating of the Powercon Generator switchgear rating to 15kV, 95kV BIL, 100kA (momentary withstand) and 5000Amps.

Powercon USA have utilized the 15kV 4000 Amp Eaton VCP-WG Vacuum Generator breaker which is designed and tested to the specific ANSI / IEEE C.37.013 standard. This breaker is designed to handle the rigorous and unique characteristics needed when applied in close proximity to a Generator and Transformer configuration.
